Church of Agios Georgios

The main church of Pyla is dedicated to Agios Georgios and is located near the square of the village. The present church was built on top of the foundations of an older church dedicated to the same Saint and which was ruined in 1950 so that a school would be built. The only thing that was salvaged from the old church was the icon of Saint George which was designed in 1825. This ancient icon is kept at the church of Archangel Michael.

The church of Agios Georgios is a 40-metre-long and 20-metre-wide building of gothic architecture. The interior of the church is adorned by a wooden iconostasis.
